The Roots

Hi, I’m Jen. An American Expat currently living in Mexico.

I have been providing therapy for adults, adolescents, and children since 2012 and have worked across the spectrum of mental health care.

I am a native English Speaker, have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work with a focus on Families and Children and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, with a minor in Family Studies.

I have experience providing individual, group and family therapy to people across the lifespan, from all cultures and backgrounds. I have spent much of my career working with children, adolescents, and their families in different capacities.

I founded Bloom Counseling when our family moved overseas, and I saw the lack of quality, accessible mental health services available to English speaking expatriates abroad. I understand the challenges that come with moving away from everything and everyone you know. I know firsthand how it feels to adjust to new cultures, new languages, I have helped my kids and many others with their transition to new schools, homes and neighborhoods.

My Approach

The therapeutic relationship is built over time, and requires trust, communication, and a willingness to grow.

Because we are all unique- we know there can’t be a one size fits all method when it comes to our sessions.

I may draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities in our work together– I have training in traditional and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Emotional Freedom Techniques, to name a few. I am a trauma informed therapist, meaning that I consider the role traumatic events and experiences can have on someone throughout their life.

The content of our sessions will depend on your identified goals for our work together, what feels most important to you, and how much time we have to work together.

If you are reading this, you have already taken the first step. You have likely been reflecting on something that has been or is currently difficult and wondering whether counseling could help.
